PlayStation 3[edit]

Production of the Sony PlayStation 3 was discontinued altogether in 2017, the year when Roku, a major company that releases TV streaming devices, released the Express+ 3910 (the last streaming player model with analog video outputs). That was eleven years after the console debuted. However, the console, despite being outdated by now, still receives OS/software updates. Its latest OS/software version is 4.89, which was released only 3 months ago on May 10th. The latest OS/software version of the Roku Express+ 3910 is what current Roku devices have today; the RokuOS 11.0, released five days before the latest OS/software version of the Sony PlayStation 3. Very big surprise there... On the other hand, current Roku devices are now HDMI-only and only output in 16:9 and in progressive HD resolutions. The 2013-2014 Roku device models with HDMI-only initially supported the 4:3 and SD options. Then in 2015 when Roku introduced the fourth generation of Roku devices, all pre-2014 HDMI-only Rokus completely removed the 4:3 and SD options. But then when Roku introduced the original Express+, model 3710, which the 3910 from the following year is a more-powerful version of, the 4:3 and SD options revived in the HDMI-only Rokus. They were removed again when the 6th-generation products carried over to the 7th generation were discontinued in the summer of 2019, which I believe was mainly because analog TV sets have not been produced since the early 2010s.

The Express+ 3910 was originally a 6th-generation Roku player. In 2018, when Roku launched the 7th generation of Roku players, the Express+ 3910, along with other 2017 6th-generation Roku players such as the Express 3900, Stick 3800, and Stick+ 3810, were carried over to the newer generation without any changes. After the summer of 2019, all the Roku models mentioned were no longer produced.

I've owned the Express+ 3910 since February 2020. Bought online from Walmart when they still had it. My unit had the newer flap box packaging with the 2018 copyright when I got it. Two years later I still own it. My TV set is a Magnavox TS2756-C102 analog CRT, manufactured September 1994. 69.85.235.49 16:55, 11 August 2022 (UTC)
